Final Assessment

Participation: Participation is probably one of my best categories for this year. I always focus my intentions on participating in in-class activities, whether others allow me to do so or not. When it comes to some activities such as speed ball, sometimes I'm not able to participate as often as I wish because others don't pass the ball, but whenever I have the chance, I try to get right in there and join. Every gym class I have my gym strip unless it's a class where we don't have to wear it, then I don't have to change. In this category, I for sure deserve an A. I don't think I could've done too much more to improve here and if I can, please let me know.

Social Responsibility and Contribution to the Class: This year, I tried my best to be out there with my classmates and talk to more people then I usually would have. I'm typically a shy person so I don't like communicating with classmates I'm not close with outside of class. I mostly encourage my closer friends, but I did make sure to encourage people, especially on fitness days. For example, when I run past someone during a running exercise, I'll say something quick like, "You got this, keep going." as encouragement to someone who as started walking or looks like they are working really hard. For leadership this year, I've done my best to help organize and set up the activities and ask if people need help when they are setting up. There have been multiple cases this year where a group of friends and I will organize a game together when we aren't huge fans of the choices given to us, with permission  of course. Even when I'm not pleased with the activity, I suck it up and try to enjoy it as best I can so I don't bring misery to any other people. This is one of the parts I struggle with the most but I think I'm able to get an A in this category as well.

Healthy Living: I haven't been the most healthy person outside of school when it comes to doing activities on my own. I do hang out with my friends very often and we run around and play. I also did badminton outside of class a lot because it's something I enjoy doing. I have however lost interest in doing squash over the past year because I haven't had many opportunities to go do it. In the past I did lots of that but nowadays I do badminton more often. Occasionally, I do toss a baseball around with my uncle, but not enough to consider it a daily activity. Over the course of the summer, I hope to get out a lot more then I did last year so I can maintain my physical condition so it will be easier when returning in the summer. I don't have my black out thingy much anymore. If I do, it's after a lot of running but it only ever happens after a hardcore badminton match or after fitness days like the pond relays. I need to keep monitoring it but it isn't much of a concern. I don't think I'm perfect in this section but I still think I deserve a solid B.

Digital Portfolio: My blog isn't one of the extreme blogs with every single update on it, monotoring every detail and have photos left and right. However, I believe the quality is of high standards and I did really well. One thing really missing from my blog has to be the amount of photos. I do have some photos but the problem with photos is that I don't feel comfortable posting my face online and I couldn't get many photos that reflected the blog post and didn't show my face at the same time. In each post I showed to good detail of what I felt each day and how hard I worked. I think I deserve a B in this section because I feel there was a lot of room for improvement but it is still up to good standards.

Overall this year, I think I deserve an A for how much I have put into gym. I do have a couple flaws here and there but everybody does, and those flaws can be only set for improving myself in further years. Even if people do disagree and say I'm a B, I still look upon myself as an A student and that is good enough for me. Thank you for such an amazing year.

Fitness Test FINALE

On Tuesday, we had our final fitness test of the year. Not only was this our final fitness test but it just so happened to be my best of all time (including last year). My scores this time were:

Beep Test: 8.2
Vertical: 220-255
Sit and Touch: 4
T-Test: 11s 81ms
Sit-Ups: 26
Push Ups: 5
Plank: 45s
Touches: 12

Compared to the beginning of the year where I only got:

Beep Test: 5.5
Vertical: 220-250
Sit and Touch: 1
T-Test: 12s 88ms
Sit-Ups: ---
Push Ups: 4
Plank: 40s
Touches: 9

I am so proud of myself because I was able to beat everything (except the stupid balance board) and it feels so amazing to know that I was able to improve. I hope next year I'l be able to get even better but in order to do that, I'll have to do some fitness-like activities over the summer. I'M SO PROUD!!!

Buddies FINALE!!!

It was our final trek to Cambridge and we all cried as we knew it was the last time of the year we'd be able to skip fitness. Just kidding.....kinda. This buddy day it was our final goodbye to our buddies and getting to see their classroom and some work that they've done. Our buddy sat in a small group of four. She wasn't much interested in showing of her work and class. She wanted to do activities with us and talk about what her summer plans were. Together, Hardil, our buddy and I made a little origami bunny which we let her keep for a memory of us. In return, our buddy drew us an adorable drawing of the three of us. I've had to learn a lot from our buddy. Small things like how to speak to them, lead them and deal with any problems they might have. I really did enjoy this experience despite the ups and downs. Thank you Mr. Neufeld for organizing this and making it a possibility.

Pond Run

The Pond....home of the ancient demon duck of hell. This fitness we ran circles around this water hole in a relay fashion. Grouping up into a group of 5, we all got in bunch of runs. My group consisted of Sophie, Alexis, Gaby, Katie and myself. Unfortunately, partway through we lost a member due to her feeling a little ill so Alexis ended up walking circles around the pond. However, I was rather proud of myself. I was able to keep a steady speed for almost the entire time and even when I slowed down I was going pretty fast. I should've brought my water bottle out though because after we finished, I had a small attack and I had to crouch for a moment to regain my posture. This pond run is one of the fitness days I'm truly proud of and I only wish that it gets better from here.

Buddies #4 Baseball!

Before you start asking questions, no, nobody got hurt with the ball.

Baseball with our buddies was one of the more fun activities we've had but it was one of the most difficult to deal with my buddy on. We partnered up with Sophie and her buddy for the game and we thought everything would go swimmingly. We were wrong. We played the game a little different from what the rules implied only because we didn't understand them completely. The two buddies took turns alternating between the field and being up to bat. Our buddy has quite a strong arm! I was able to give her a few pointers on how to hold the "bat" and that she should keep her eyes glued to the ball. Near the end, our buddy started to get a little violent and when she missed the ball she hit Sophie in the arm in frustration. The atmosphere of the game went down really fast when we had to put our foot down to tell her she can't do that to others. Also, at the end of the game, our buddy was flaunting about how good she was and how she beat Sophie's buddy. Though I am happy for her, I noticed that Sophie's buddy wasn't very happy after that and I thought perhaps I should've asked her to tone it down. At the end of the day, she did have lots of fun and learned a good deal on how to hit the ball and I'm proud to say that I was an influence on that.

Circuit Fitness w/Sophie ft. The S Game

SO. MANY. STAIRS. (stairs is a word that begins with the letter s). The circuit took place on upper field and I tell you, it sucked. So many stupid activities that made me super sore. Sophie and I suffered as we sprinted to other stations. Some stations were scary while others were so-so. Activities included stairs, medicine ball, squats, sit ups, and weights. Sophie and I surprised ourselves by summing up some s words to distract from the stupid stations. Sometimes, she got me stumped when I couldn't simmer up an s word. So back to the station stuff. I was sore for some days after but it was sooo worth it for I feel even stronger then I was before. To sum it up, I never want to do the stupid circuit ever again so stop sucking me into silly station days.

Capture the Flag ft. Black Shoe

Black shoe, black shoe, change your black shoe. Gather 'round in a circle to fight in a competition to the death to see who has the true black shoe. Round and round and round we go, each contestant being eliminated from the standings as each rhyme is dropped. Feet are switching left and right and we are finally down to the final two. Black shoe, black shoe, change your black shoe! Looks like we have our victor! Gaby the Cheater! Winner of every black shoe ever! How does she do it? Luck? Chance? No. Gaby is in fact a cheater.

Close your eyes and imagine. You're running through the woods, twigs snapping below your feet and the sun toasting the top of your head. You hear children's voices echoing in the distance. As the voices close in, you run faster, swatting away tree branches and hopping the rolling stream. You see a red cloth in the distance. The wind tickles your ears as you get closer and closer to your target, but you see guards blocking your path. You turn to run away but it is at that moment when you realize, you're trapped. A wire fence blocks your path, prickly bushes at either of your sides with only one way to exit. Crack. Snap. They're coming. Closer. Closer. Your heart begins to races as you cling to the fence as your only security. Shadows emerge from the trees, slowly creeping up to your feet and you brace yourself. They're here.
"Got you!"
Capture the flag. An intense game filled with running, hiding and defending. The goal of the game is to reach the other team's flag and capture it back to your own side. I made it sound more extreme then it actually it, but at times it can feel exactly that way. In this particular game, Alexis and I were tracking buddies as we roamed the forest either scaring people off our side or defending the flag. There were two really exciting moments in this game. The first one was when a group of girls were sneaking down the path beside the school and Alexis and I burst unexpectedly out of the forest and gave them all a heart attack for they didn't see us coming. The second moment was when there was only two of them. Alexis flew out and scared one off but she didn't realize the other had turned back to continue. At the same time, however, she didn't notice that I was still in the forest waiting for her and I managed to get her out through the element of surprise. We happily took victory in that game and I really hope to do it again sometime.

Capture the flag is one of the few games I feel like I truly participate in. Mainly because it's not like there is one ball that everyone hogs but you can get anyone out at any time. This game is also one of the activities that make running and getting sweaty actually fun. I wish we were able to do it more because I would have much more participation (not that I don't try to participate).

Hanging At The Club

My mom dragged me down to the club where I was treated like I had just crawled out of my grave. Though I hadn't, everyone hadn't seen my in a while so I was greeted with pinched cheeks, hugs and a crap load of "OMG she's so tall and beautiful!" Though I am, it was annoying. I sat alone most of the time working on my novel but then a small ray of sunshine burst through the front doors and I was forced off my butt to play. My 10 year old friend Jenna decided to make me feels old through rounds of tag and doing cartwheels in the hallways. It may not sound like much, but I was sweating like I had done boot camp all over again. No joke. Eventually our tag ran us into the weight room in the club and she didn't know how the machines worked so I was going around showing her each machine. By showing the machines, I was required to do some demonstrations. Whether it was pumping some iron or doing the inclined stairs, I ended up doing quite a bit of work, as well as Jenna herself. It was never as I expected the day to go, but in the end, I got a hell of a workout and I don`t regret a minute.

M&M Quality Time!

My other half and I decided it was time for a little hangout. Actually, we were just bored after school. Instead of just sitting at home and complaining over text on how bored we were, we took action and got together and went to the Cambridge grass field. What did we do there might you ask? Well, I brought some baseball mitts and a ball and Maddie brought her badminton gear and we went to the far corner in the shade. We played the laziest games ever. From sitting down hitting the birdie around to chucking the mitts at each other, it was an overall weird time. In all seriousness, we did get some solid games in there (while standing up) and of course I won them all ;) At the end of the day, we did some karaoke to Ed Sheeran and headed back home, the two parts separated once more just waiting to be reunited once again for school. Shout out to Maddie Smith. You are my homie Granny Smith :P

Boot Camp

.....I didn't sign up for the military. Boot camp was not only exhausting but painful as well. When our little group did the exercises, we tried to do our best to alternate leg exercises verses arm exercises. We thought this way would make it a little easier on our body so they had little rest in between, but nooo. It was painful either way. I am glad that we got the run over and down with right at the start. It ended up being a good idea because about midway through, my legs were wanting to snap right off. However, I would've been okay with that because then I wouldn't of had to finish and suffer any longer. None the less, it was a great workout and I never want to do it again.

Swag Squad Unite!

My squad and I enjoyed a day together out on the streets! We biked around for a while and hit a spot for food then headed down to goldstone to toss around the Frisbee and play some badminton. Of course there was enough wind to ruin badminton but we enjoyed throwing the Frisbee around and hitting each other in multiple limbs. One was so hard it chopped Gaby's leg off! We all chugged bottles of water and had a blast together as a group.

A "Healthy" Snack w/ Alexis

So as everyone knows, Alexis and I are the most healthy people in the world. We had prior plans in working together to finish French homework, so we took this opportunity to create a very healthy snack. First, we baked a giant cookie. Once we broke it while transferring it to another plate, we added a few ingredients. First, or course, some vanilla ice cream to keep it nice and cool. Then we drizzled chocolate syrup and sprinkled sprinkles overtop of that. We are both very proud of our creation and wish to do it again.

MY BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT

I did a push-up today! Well, actually I fell down....but I had to use my arms to get back up so close enough. Now I shall reward myself with some chocolate.

Dragon Tails

Oh boy did we prove we are the superior band AND gym class. It was conjoined gym and it was class on class dragon tails. Bands of the Bands per se. Regardless, we had a hefty class on class battle. On my half of the band, we couldn't get everyone to focus AT ALL. Everyone wanted to goof off and just do. But it didn't really matter because somehow we still managed to get everyone set on a plan even though they didn't really work. In the end, our class won and we proved superiority which made us rub it in their faces without care. Sorry guys but we can't help that we're better.

Buddies 3

During the third buddy session (that I've done) we were working with our buddies on throwing balls. Please don't take that out of context. We all had tennis balls and were practising our throws in the grass field at Cambridge. What I found with our buddy is that she was having a hard time moving her foot while throwing and would instead put her foot out then throw. Near the end, I think she had a better grasp on what we were trying to have her do but she was very reluctant when we tried to assist her. She just wanted to play with the balls (there is no good way to say that). During the golf like part of the class, our buddy struggled with how much strength to put on the ball while throwing. We tried to help her understand she was throwing to hard and to soft and she eventually figured it out and she was rather proud. I think it was a very successful class.

Dance week

Dance week was.....interesting. The only dances we got to do were jazz and bungara. I'm just going to skip talking about jazz and go straight to the fun part. Bungara was done with the conjoined band classes and let's just say it was wild. Everyone was having such and amazing time and overall laughed the whole time. When we got in a big group to dance together we probably should've given each other more space considering we kept sitting on each other whenever we did the squat jump things. Our classes won (of course) and we somehow got Mr. Williams to attempt to dance which made us all laugh our socks off. He won though, so I don't feel to bad for laughing. This was probably the best dance week ever.

Buddies Day 2

Second day I've actually had with my buddy didn't go as well as I expected. It was nice to see my buddy again but since I was by myself (Hardil was away) our buddy seemed a little hostile towards me. I don't know if they just don't like me but they had a little attitude, but it was okay because they still listened to me without fuss. Gaby ended up partnering with me because her buddy was away but that was ok. We did slightly more advanced activities with our buddies but I think my buddy really enjoyed themself. Next time we have buddies, I hope my buddy is a bit more friendly but even if they aren't, they are my buddy and I am there to help them.

Buddies

I met my buddy for the first time on the second trip to visit since I was away the first. My buddy is adorable. I partner with Hardil and we both help with our buddy. We did basic activities such as different walks, hops and movements at first and our buddy was very cooperative. It some cases, our buddy wanted to lead us! Our buddy enjoyed doing the activities but the one thing I noticed was that our buddy didn't like when we told them how to improve what they were doing. I hope in time our buddy will realize that when we tell them how to improve, it's not because they are doing it wrong but because we want them to do it to the best of they're abilities. Hopefully our buddy will come to understand that. All in due time...

Badminton

Over spring break I did badminton with my friend Maddie. We are so terrible it's not even funny. It's hard to play outside with the wind as is but we laugh so much we sometimes can't even play a rally. We got together twice over spring break and went to the Cambridge parking lot where we'd play for an hour and a half. We chose badminton because her and I are playing on the junior badminton team for school and we just all and all love the game. We will probably start to do this as a more regular thing regardless of how sucky we are while goofing off. Oh well.

Dog Walking

My dogs. Two little nuggets always begging for attention. These dimwits eat food, drink water and crap everywhere, however they need their exercise too. I've started taking these babes on walks/runs because I've been bored as hell sitting at home doin jack squat. Nugget number one, little man Comet is more of a lazy thing.
His hobbies include sleeping, eating and sleeping. I've been taking this thing on a 15 minute walk for the past few days. He is a walker, I've tried running but he is lazy so he flips his fur like, "Girl if you think I'm moving any faster then these hips are already taking me, you are sadly mistaken." So I just walk him everywhere.

My fat dog Thunder, however, loves running. My sweet Thunder bolt runs as fast as his little legs will take him.
We walk for a bit so his business then he becomes sonic, like got to go fast! I'm usually in sweat by the end, but Thunder, as he gets tired, the more energy he possesses. Is he the flash? Sonic? Is he just on cocaine? We will never know but it is a fact that both him and I get a good workout everytime. Maybe one day I won't have to call him fat boy anymore, but until then...

Mid Term Reflection

For the first half of this year, PE has been quite ride. Learning new things about my body and participating in a variety of activities has been fun but also a struggle.

This year, I've made sure to do my best with participation in the activities and bein engaging with the other people. My best effort was put into more of the serious and hard activities because I feel the need to make sure I succeeded in those activities. The days I struggle are usually fitness days during running activities because they are really hard to do with my breathing.

My contribution to the class is being encouraging and being a good sport during the activities. Leadership isn't my best thing since I am a rather shy person with people I don't know very well but I contribute any ideas I have if I feel the need to. Even though I'm not the most social person, I am still friendly to any others I talk to.

During fitness days are when I work my absolute hardest because this is where I can struggle the most. On fitness days I push myself to the fullest even when I push myself too far. The one fitness I've been wanting to do but I haven't done yet is the community run. I just enjoy being outside and getting to look at everything instead of being stuck in the gym. I feel like a accomplish my goal in fitness when I'm sore the next day then I have proven to myself that I did it.

Leadership to me is contributing ideas and taking matters into your own hands instead of having others do it for you. I think the best leader in our class is Simran because she always helps set up games and she is very outgoing and enthusiastic. I on the other hand will help set up games and activities but I'm not the person to step up and lead the class.

By the end of this year, my plan is to work on getting over my dizzy phase I get when running or working too hard. I can achieve this by doing more activities and home and getting out more. My plan is to get back into squash and do that more frequently so I build up what I can stand. What I'm the most proud of so far is how hard I've been pushing myself and how well I've done even when I struggle. When I'm beginning to give up I always tell myself just to push through because fitness is only once a week. If I improve on this later in the year as well though, I'd be really happy.

If I were to give myself a letter grade I think I'd give myself an A because I've been keeping up with my blogs and trying the hardest I can. I don't think I deserve any less then that with all the work I've done this ear and I hope to continue this in the days to come.

Fitness Day: Poker

Today we had poker fitness, and I'm not going to lie, I am sore as hell. I really really hated having to do so many burpies. I used to do them all the time when I was a little younger but now I struggle. Good news though, being sore is only making me stronger, and that's what I'm supposed to be doing. Thank you Mr. Neuf for having me suffer! Best pain ever!
